RECENT INSTALLATIONS

I have been using a variety of materials in my recent installations: wood and aluminum rods, strips

of wood and plastic, stainless steel wires, and monofilament. With these materials I make units that

when combined create the finished work. The number of units can be multiplied or reduced

depending on the size of the environment that the installation will occupy.

Each installation is a construction of linear parts that actively occupies the surrounding

environment. In ‘Hanging Arcs’ elements are suspended so they move when affected by air

currents, in ‘Meeting Points’ motors turn aluminum rods which ring when they strike one another,

in ‘Red Lines’ strips of painted wood create dynamic interactions as they interlock and point in

many directions.

My installations are not complete until participants move around and through them, see their parts

move, and listen to the sounds they make. It is through sensory interaction that these works come

alive. I am as interested in the experience that the viewer has with these works as I am in the

materials that I have used to create them.
