RED LINES

This installation like much of my work is created from units or cells that can be multiplied according

to the size of the space.

Here in the Brandel Library stairwell the stairs spiral around the piece and it reflects this

movement.  This piece responds to the architecture of the stairwell, it is physically contained by it

but seems to break free of it.   It is a response to the repetition of the steps in the stairwell but as

though they were set free by a whirlwind or an explosive tornado that carried them aloft.

The observer gets the maximum impact by going up and down the steps and so moving around the

piece and observing it from different angles and perspectives.  This interaction evokes the

dramatic, dynamic quality of the work even more effectively.

It takes on a life of its own.
